Leroy-R-UmnusLeRoy R. Umnuhs, 94, passed away on Friday, Nov. 21, 2014. He was born of April 8, 1920, in Waukesha, the son of Richard and Alma (Vohs) Umnuhs.

After graduating from Waukesha High School, LeRoy attended the University of Wisconsin, earning his bachelorís degree in accounting. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army as 1st lieutenant in the Transportation Corps. LeRoy also served his country in the Korean War.

He married Doretta Wehren in 1948. LeRoy later earned his masterís degree in accounting from UW-Whitewater. He was employed with A.O. Smith Corp. before teaching accounting at Milwaukee Area Technical College for 20 years. LeRoy founded Umnuhs Accounting and Tax Service, still doing taxes at the age of 93 for some of his clients. Retiring in 1990, LeRoy and Doretta moved to Oregon, where he taught part time at Madison Area Technical College. He was an active member of St. Lukeís Lutheran in Waukesha and also at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Oregon after his move.

LeRoy enjoyed hunting with his son and their fishing trips to Canada. After watching his daughter with her horses, LeRoy became interested in owning his own horse, the beginning of a long love affair with horses, and he still enjoyed watching his horse performing at shows.

In addition to Doretta, his wife of 66 years, LeRoy is survived by his son, Lee; daughter, Deborah Schreiber; three grandsons, Jacob (Carolyn), Aaron (Darii) and Noah Schreiber; and his two great-grandsons, Dylan and Hudson Schreiber.

Funeral services will be held at St. Johnís Lutheran Church, 625 E. Netherwood St., Oregon, at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 26, with the Rev. Paul Markquart presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday. Burial will be in Prairie Home Cemetery, Waukesha.
