Jordan Zillmer

Sept. 29, 1917 - Nov. 23, 2014

 

 

Jordan Zillmer was born September 29, 1917. Jordan entered into eternal life Nov. 23, 2014, at the age of 97. He was born to parents Hugo and Lillian Zillmer in Watertown.  In 1919, the family moved to Oconomowoc. He was a member of St. Paulís Lutheran Church in Oconomowoc for over 90 years. He served on the school board, he was a member of the Board of Trustees and was financial secretary. He graduated from St. Paulís Parochial School in 1932 and from Oconomowoc High School in 1936. Jordan was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. After military service, he worked as a painter before working for the postal service at the Oconomowoc Post Office. He worked as a clerk and superintendent of mails. In 1971, he was appointed post master in Sullivan.  He retired in 1981. He was a life member of VFW post 2260 in Oconomowoc, he was also a life member of National Association of Post Masters and the National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees. Jordan and his wife Dorothy enjoyed their retirement doing outdoor activities and traveling throughout the U.S. and Canada.

 

Jordan was preceded in death by the love of his life, Dorothy Zillmer. Jordan and Dorothy were married in 1947.

 

He was also preceded in death by his son, James Zillmer; his daughter Mary Pfannenstill; son-in-law Jerry Pfannestill; and sister-in-law Eileen Zillmer.

 

Jordan is survived by his brother Robert Zillmer;  his three grandchildren, Josh, Julie and Jennifer; two great-grandchildren, Ava and Lilly; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Zillmer; four step-grandchildren; numerous step-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

 

Funeral services will be held today, November 26, at 10:30 AM with a visitation starting at 10:00 AM, all to take place at Pagenkopf Funeral Home, 1165 E. Summit Ave., Oconomowoc. Burial will follow at LaBelle Cemetery.

 

Memorials are suggested to St. Paulís Lutheran Church in Oconomowoc.
