Wayne W. Van Lare, 72, of Lebanon, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2014, at River Hills West Healthcare Center in Pewaukee.

Wayne Walter Van Lare was born in Waukesha on May 29, 1942, son of Walter and Gladys (Zimmerman) Van Lare. He was a 1960 graduate of Arrowhead High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, earning a Purple Heart. On September 1, 1984, Wayne married Caroline M. Edwards in Waukesha.

He was a self-employed residential carpenter and enjoyed hunting and gardening.

Survivors include his children, John (Bridget) Van Lare of Hartford and Eric (Mary) Van Lare of Ixonia; four stepchildren, Danette Schulz of Hustisford, Richard (Cindi) Husting of North Lake, Ray (Barb) Kleemeier of Watertown and Theresa Berlin of Ixonia; 12 grandchildren, Catherine, Eleanor, Alexandra, Andy, Ryan, Joey, Neal, Kyle, Andrew, Brittany, Cara and Kami; a great-grandchild, Jayden; a sister, Sharron (Harold) Roberts of Delafield; two brothers, Dale Van Lare of Kenosha and Keith (Susie) Van Lare of Oconomowoc; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Caroline, on March 12, 2012.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Wednesday, October 8, in the Chapel at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia with the Rev. Matthew Lee of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Rubicon officiating.

Relatives and friends may gather at the church from 10 a.m. on Wednesday until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Wayne’s name may be given to Disabled American Veterans.
