Floyd H. Howard

Floyd H. Howard, 86, of Eagle, passed away on October 16, 2014, at Boland Hall in the Union Grove Veterans Home. He was born March 17, 1928, to Floyd T. and Mary B. (nee Cregger) Howard in Santa Monica, Calif.
Floyd was a proud veteran of the Merchant Marines having served in WWII in the Pacific Theater. Following the war, he continued in the Coast Guard on the Great Lakes. Floyd married Rose Kurz on April 19, 1949, and they were married for almost 54 years before she died on April 15, 2003. Floyd and Rose raised six children together. He retired from AO Smith, where he had worked in the powerhouse and served as the former president of the Fireman/Oilers Union. One of his favorite things to do was going out to eat to enjoy the company of his friends.
He also enjoyed fishing in his free time.
Floyd was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rose; his children, Floyd Rick Howard and Mary Aultman; his son-in-law, Gary Reetz; his grandson, Scott Miller; his parents; Floyd T.
and Mary B. Howard; his siblings, Marilee Armendariz and Ellen Bearns; and his brothers-in-law, Gary Smith and Gene Kosmowski.
Floyd is survived by his children, Susan (Joseph) Miller, Sally (Gary) Strobusch, Patrick Howard and Kathleen Reetz; his son-in-law, Bruce Aultman; his grandchildren, Marc (Shannon) Strobusch, Jennifer (Aaron, Sr.) Kloth, Daniel Miller, Bonnie (Jeff) Bennett, David Reetz, Angela Reetz, and Laura Miller; and his great-grandchildren, Julia, Sophia, Ryan, Meghan, Mary, Aaron Jr., Anna, Scott, and Makenzie. He is further survived by his siblings, Shirley (James) Bernsen, Geri (Phil) Davis, Ginger Smith and Betty Kosmowski; his brother- in-law James Bearns; his sister-in-law, Alberta (Frank) Piraino; and many nieces and nephews.
Floyd’s family will honor him with private services.
