Mary Ellen Drusch (nee Jahraus)
Mary Ellen Drusch (nee Jahraus) of Waukesha was born to eternal life on September 9, 2014, at the age of 57 after a courageous battle with renal cancer.
She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.
Mary was the daughter of Shirley (Kirschenmann) Halvorson and LeRoy Jahraus (deceased). She was born and raised in Aberdeen, South Dakota, where she met the love of her life, Kirk Drusch.
They were married on June 28, 1980. In 1985, they moved their family to Waukesha.
Mary devoted her adult life to raising their four boys.
She was an active participant in Boy Scouts, PTO and Project Graduation. She could always be seen supporting her boys in their sports and activities and was often referred to as “Mom” by all of their friends. Mary enjoyed making each family occasion special and memorable.
Mary had a great passion for gardening and grew a large, beautiful butterfly garden of her own. She shared her love and knowledge of gardening with her sons and granddaughters. Mary also looked forward to her monthly Bunco game nights and treasured her friendships with the “Bunco Babes.”
Mary’s most precious moments were spent with her granddaughters. She truly enjoyed taking them to the park and introducing them to the spa. Mary also had many fond memories of traveling, from family vacations when her boys were young to her recent trips to Australia, Hawaii and tour of the national parks.
Mary will be deeply missed by her husband, Kirk; their sons Christopher (Kathryn), Matthew (Jaclyn), Brandon (Melissa) and Michael (Linda); and granddaughters Olivia and Adalyn (Christopher) and Liliana and Alexiana (Matthew). She will also be sadly missed by her mother, Shirley; sister Jody Hatt; and dogs Romeo and Beemer.
Mary is further survived by relatives and friends.
An open celebration of Mary’s life will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 470 N. Oak Crest Drive, Wales, WI 53183, on Wednesday, September 17.
