Peter P. Robbins

April 26, 1932 — Sept. 18, 2014

Peter P. Robbins of Waukesha passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2014. He will be dearly missed by family and friends, especially his loving wife, Olga “Kelly” and children, Peter and Lisa Robbins. Peter was born in Madison on April 26, 1932, to Marion and Dr. John Holden Robbins. He grew up in Madison and often talked about the fun he had with his brother, John, and sister, Mary. He graduated from Madison West High School in 1950. After high school he served in the Air Force and was honored as Airman of the Year in 1953. That same year, he married Olga Mary Keller of Madison. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering and a master’s degree in business. He had an adventurous spirit and liked traveling, camping and learning new things. He also had a passion for teaching others. Early on, he volunteered as a Boy Scout leader and later he taught technical college courses in engineering.

He loved being a husband and father and building toys and furniture for his two children when they were young. Throughout his career, he enjoyed the challenge of improving processes. He spent more than 20 years in manufacturing engineering and plant operations. After working in the private sector, he served as director of industry at the Milwaukee County House of Correction. After retiring, he continued to work part time at his sisters-in-law’s farm, Alpine Dairy, in Oregon, Wis. His inquisitive nature inspired new and varied experiences throughout his life, including skiing, mountain biking, fly fishing, jewelry making, upholstery and computers. He also enjoyed gardening, wood carving, and spending time with his family and pets.

Peter is survived by his wife, Olga “Kelly” Robbins of Waukesha; children, Peter (Leslie) Robbins of Los Angeles and Lisa Robbins (Joe Nadolny) of Milwaukee; brother, John (Peggy) Robbins and family of Madison; sister, Mary (Bill) Cichowski and family of Rochester Hills, Mich.; sister-in-law Dora Keller of Oregon; and nieces and nephews, Erica (Dennis) Borbe-Voss of Two Dot, Mont., Herbert Borbe Jr. of Marana, Ariz., Bettina and Richard Keller of Zurich.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J. Holden and Marion Robbins; brother-in-law, Alfred Keller Jr.; sister-inlaw, Martha (Herbert) Borbe; brother-in-law, Robert (Beatrice) Keller; and sister-in-law Betty Keller.
