Margaret E. Peterson

Feb. 8, 1932 — Sept. 18, 2014

Margaret E. PetersonMargaret E. Peterson, 82, of Waukesha, passed away Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc. She was born Feb. 8, 1932, in Sparta, to Elmer and Mabel (Johnson) Davis.

After graduation from Black River Falls High School in 1949, Margaret worked in Eau Claire at Wisconsin Bell as a long-distance operator while attending business college. She then moved back to Black River Falls and was a stenographer for the Jackson County district attorney and also a telephone operator at the General Telephone Company.

Margaret moved to Eau Claire in 1965 and accepted a job at Fran’s Supper Club. In 1968, she (and her sister Dorlene) bought the business and enjoyed serving the public, most of whom became family to her until she sold the business in 1988.

Following that, Margaret worked part time for the Eau Claire County Nutrition Program in various positions — clerical, home-delivered meals and meal site manager. She was also a beauty consultant for May Kay Cosmetics. Serving others brought Margaret great joy.

In 2002, Margaret retired and moved to Waukesha to be close to her children and grandchildren. She loved to spend time with them playing Yahtzee, watching the Brewers, Packers and “Wheel of Fortune,” and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, music recitals, graduations and weddings. She lived life to the fullest during those special years with family and friends.

Margaret is survived by her children, Diana (Mark) Anderson of Waukesha and Dean (Betsy) Peterson of Salem; grandchildren, Eric, Ellen, Susan, Nicole, Lauren and Derek; great-grandchildren, Bailey, Owen, Matthew, Margot and Nathan; sisters, Jean Lovlien of Black River Falls and Dorlene Krewson of Ashland; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Margaret was preceded in death by her mother, Mabel, and her father and stepmother, Elmer and Phyllis Davis.
