Ronald J. Martin
Oct. 9, 1935 -- Jan. 6, 2015

Ronald J. Martin, age 79, was born on October 9, 1935, and passed away at home Tuesday, January 6, 2015.

Ron was born in Fresno, California. He graduated from Oconomowoc High School. It was there he met the love of his life, Joanne Tupper-Martin. Ron learned the art of cheese making from Joanneís father, Red Tupper. Upon graduation, Ron joined the Army serving in Korea, Alaska, Germany and the National Guard (Clintonville). He served the remainder of his 30 years of service as sergeant first class with the Army Reserve 395th of Appleton. Ron considered the men of the 395th as part of his family. Ron was a patriot, a champion of freedom, serving to protect the Constitutional rights we as Americans hold precious.

Ron and Joanne were reunited later in their life and married. They shared a great love of life and family. Together they enjoyed five children, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren: Ronís children, Rhonda, Todd, Julie, Scott and Kurt; his grandchildren, Zach, Tschana, Chelsea, Erin, Carli and Ryan; and his great-grandchildren, Kailea Jo, Hazel, James, Ivy and River; sons- and daughters-in-law Donna Martin and Jack Breslin; and other family members, Kai Rassmussen, Maria Latela, Matt Schiller, Jennifer Breslin, Noah Waldron and Eyal Bareli.

Ron and Joanne loved nature. Their home became a sanctuary to the wild birds, geese, ducks, turkey, deer and the woodland critters. Ron loved to fish on his pond, grill and entertain his family and friends.

The family would appreciate that any donations be made in honor of Ron to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org  or the Fisher House Foundation at www.fisherhouse.org.  A memorial service was held Saturday, January 10, to celebrate Ronís life at Pagenkopf Funeral Home, 1165 E Summit Ave., Oconomowoc. A dinner celebration followed at the Olympia Resort, Oconomowoc.
