Joan Schilling Walther
Nov. 14, 1930 ó Jan. 23, 2015
Joan Schilling Walther took the hand of her savior on January 23, 2015, to be with her loved ones who have gone before her. She was born in Waukesha on November 14, 1930, the daughter of Erwin and Francis (nee Smith) Schilling.
Joan was Past Matron of the former Ina J. Reid Chapter (now La Belle Chapter) of Mukwonago and a member of Fidelity Chapter of Appleton. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Waukesha, where she served as a Sunday school teacher for 17 years. She worked at Kohlís Department Store for the past 20 years, and continued to work there part time. She enjoyed playing bingo, doing word searches and adored John Wayne. Above all, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy and she will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
She will be sadly missed by her son, Howard Walther Jr. of East Troy and her daughter Debra Kailas of Waukesha. She was the dear grandmother of Anthony (Desarae) Montoya of Waukesha, Jeremy (Lindsey) Montoya of Waukesha, Danielle (Tim Miller) Montoya of Waukesha and Alexis Kailas of Waukesha and great-grandmother of Aiden and Bruce Montoya. She is further survived by her brothers, Ronald (Ruth) Schilling of Waukesha and John (Galen) Schilling of Palmyra, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard Walther Sr., in 1978; her brother Erwin Schilling; and her sisters Nancy Schilling, Barbara Schilling and Karen Schilling-Mess.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Marci Pals, Betty and Dick Cultice and Margie Kuchenreuther for their care, compassion and time devoted to Joan. Also a special thank you to Dr. Korker and the nurses at Purity Dialysis.
