John A. Tio

John A. Tio, age 94, a longtime Waukesha resident, passed away on January 27, 2015. John was born in St. Paul, Minn., on March 20, 1920, the son of John A. and Jennie (nee Romfoe) Tio. John was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran and was a member of the VFW. John was a retiree from RTE in Waukesha with 24 years of service. John was an avid bowler and was a “folk artist,” who developed his skills working with pop top art. John’s military service was recognized in June 2013 when he participated in an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., to visit the WWII Memorial.
John is survived by daughter Sheila (Bill) Brimmer and by sons Allen (Deborah), Wayne (Carin) and Tim (Deborah). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jennie Tio; sister Joyce Hanson; and nieces Jacqueline Hanson and Gwen Sue Hanson.
A visitation for John will be held on Saturday, January 31, from 10 to 11 AM at St. Joseph’s Cemetery Chapel, S22-W22890 E. Broadway, Waukesha, WI 53186, with the funeral service at 11 AM at the cemetery chapel. Private burial will follow the service.
