Barbara J. Dix

March 7, 1952 — Feb. 1, 2015

Barbara J. Dix nee TuchalskiBarbara J. Dix was born on March 7, 1952, in Milwaukee, to Leonard and Audrey (Sokolowski) Tuchalski. She lived most of her life in Muskego with her loving husband and best friend, John. Barbara passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015, at the age of 62. She lost her battle to cancer after nearly a decade of fighting.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, John. She was the loving mother to Scott Wisniewski (Katherine Borst), Carrie Wisniewski (Nick Schell), Aaron Wisniewski (Anette), Rich (Gayle Schultz), John and Brandie. She also was grandmother of James Wisniewski, Jonathon Dix (Erin Heise), Dylan Dix, Ashley Dix, Logan Wisniewski, and Brooklyn Wisniewski, and great-grandmother of Isabella and Mckenzie.

Barbara was passionate and full of life. She enjoyed spending time with her children, stepchildren and grandchildren. She vacationed in Florida every fall with her husband and looked forward to her annual trip. Barbara and John were best friends and anybody who knew them would even joke that they shared a brain. She also enjoyed boating, music and driving her convertible. She spent many long hours, adjusting throw rugs and worshipping Brett Favre and Kenny Loggins. Barbara never did anything half-hearted; she was strong-willed to the very end of her life. She loved hard, she played hard and she fought hard.

Barbara enjoyed her career at AT&T as an executive. She later became the coordinator of the volunteer organization Zoo Pride for the Zoological Society of Milwaukee County before retiring to help raise her grandchildren and tend to her health.

The family would like to extend our gratitude to Barbara’s oncologist, Dr. Federico Sanchez of Waukesha Memorial Hospital, for his tireless efforts in her continued care. She honored his efforts by making an anatomical donation of her body to medical research.

A private ceremony is being held at Barbara’s home in Muskego, for immediate family.

In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a fundraiser for John Dix on GoFundMe (goo.gl/F61ea5).
