Madelyn R. ‘Maddie’ Fuerstenberg
Madelyn R. “Maddie” Fuerstenberg of Waukesha passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2015, at the age of 88 years, after struggling with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in Milwaukee, the daughter of Irwin and Madeline (nee Mayer) Graetz.
Madelyn married the love of her life, Arnold Fuerstenberg, on September 30, 1950. She worked at the Beihoff Music Store for many years and loved singing in the church choir. Maddie enjoyed making counted cross-stitch items for her family, baking, canning and cooking. Maddie will always be known for love of Oreos and her sequin slippers. She was an unforgettable woman who brought joy to everyone who met her.
Maddie will be missed by her husband, Arnold; children, J. Lynne (Chuck) Wellhausen and Richard A.
Fuerstenberg; grandchildren, Kimberly Wellhausen, Kari Wellhausen (Lisa Reinhardt), Jason (Lisa) Fuerstenberg and Brian (Emily) Fuerstenberg; and great-grandchildren, Lauren and Andrea Schmidt, Tovah, Peter, Sophia, Alex and Ari Fuerstenberg. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Maddie was preceded in death by her parents and brother Robert Graetz.
The family would like to acknowledge the caregivers at the Avalon Square for all of the love and friendship they showed to Maddie.
The visitation for Maddie will be held on Thursday, February 12, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the 11:00 a.m. celebration of Maddie’s life at Avalon Square, 222 Park Place, Waukesha, WI, 53186. Entombment will take place at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Maddie’s name are appreciated to the Avalon Square Benevolence Fund (see address above) or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 620 S. 76th St., Suite 160, Milwaukee, WI 53214.
