Donna Jean Dickinson (nee Chartrand)
June 11, 1931 — March 12, 2015
Donna Jean Dickinson (nee Chartrand), of Waukesha, was taken into Our Lord’s loving arms on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at the age of 83 years.
Donna was born in Chippewa Falls on June 11, 1931, as the first of six children and only daughter to the late Thomas Chartrand and Viola (nee King) Chartrand.
Donna is survived by her devoted, loving husband of 63 years, Vernon Dickinson; children, Pamela (Peter) Latousdis and Mary Beth Dickinson; grandchildren, Todd, Leona and David; and sibling, Michael (Kenn) Chartrand.
Our Heavenly Father received their sons Paul in 2010, Mark in 2012, Noel Harvey in 2014 and John in 2015, and in previous years, four of her brothers, Thomas, Luke, David and Neil.
Donna dearly loved her husband, Vernon, her children and grandchildren. She was always coming up with creative ideas that might be fun for the family. Donna was an elegant woman with a profound love of all the arts. She enjoyed music, playing the piano, poetry, reading, creating artwork by way of painting, wood carving, pastels, even sewing, cake decorating and ceramics, to name a few. She had a gift for baking from cookies, cakes and candies to breads, which she made tirelessly for her children when they were young.
Donna loved people and loved to learn. This was expressed throughout her life as she graduated from eighth grade and Chippewa Falls High School as a valedictorian, became a candy striper, a secretary, a junior accountant, and at age 50, graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with honors as a registered nurse. She loved God, prayer and the Rosary. Donna loved animals and pets, thus, St. Francis of Assisi was her favorite saint. She was devoted and loving to her husband and family and often sacrificed for their benefit. Donna was good hearted, kind and intrigued by the life that surrounded her. She will be dearly missed.
