Betty Bernadette Trakel (nee Beasaw)
Betty Bernadette Trakel (nee Beasaw) passed away peacefully with her family at her side on March 12, 2015, at the age of 99. She was the daughter of Willis and Adele Beasaw.
Preceding Betty in death was Raymond A. Trakel, her loving husband of 74 years.
Betty graduated from Waukesha High School in 1933 and was active in the Waukesha community, participating in many charitable activities including the Waukesha Service Club.
Betty and Ray were longtime members of St. Matthias Episcopal Church in Waukesha.
The couple enjoyed spending countless summers at their cottage on Pewaukee Lake. After Ray’s retirement from the Wisconsin Telephone Company in 1978, Betty and Ray moved to Fort Myers, Fla. There they enjoyed 25 years in the sun before moving back to Waukesha in 2004 and becoming residents of Avalon Square.
Betty is survived by her three daughters, Jane (David) Merryfield of Cape Coral, Fla., Susan (Tom) Fischer of Greensboro, N.C., and Barbara (David) Strachota of Milwaukee. Betty’s grandchildren include Lisa Merryfield, David (Anne Rucker) Merryfield, Laura (Brian) Bures, Katie (Mike) Schmidt and Jenny Strachota, as well as six great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Betty will be held from 9:00 am until the time of the 10:00 am prayer service on Saturday, March 21, at Avalon Square, 222 Park Place, Waukesha, WI 53186. In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty’s name to your favorite charity would be appreciated.
