Harvey C. Lachmund, 95, passed away on March 25, 2015. He is survived by Ann, his wife of more than 73 years; his daughter Marcia and her husband Gene Britton; sister Bernice Weigel; sister- in-law Mary DuPree; and nieces and nephews.
Harvey joined the Milwaukee Musicians Association in 1936 as a “piano man” playing with many groups and dance bands over a 50year career.
Harvey met his wife, Ann, at the original SchwabenHof restaurant on 12th Street, where he had the band and Ann was the waitress with the swirling dirndl skirt. They married in 1941.
Harvey served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII, first in India and Burma, where he flew “The Hump” seven times, and finally in Shanghai, China, with the Army Air Corps band.
Harvey also worked for Sears for 36 years.
Our thanks to Wheaton Franciscan Elmbrook Memorial Hospital sixth floor nurses and staff and Wheaton Franciscan Hospice.
Memorials can be made to Harvey’s church of more than 60 years, Galilee Lutheran Church in Pewaukee.
