Parnell C. Ryan

Parnell C. Ryan of Waukesha, born April 16, 1918, in Waukesha, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, May 1, 2015, at Avalon Square, at the age of 97 years. Parnell was the son of Charles and Rose (nee Klatt).
On April 17, 1942, he married his beloved wife of 73 years, Marion (nee Lierk) in Boise, Idaho. In addition to his devoted wife Marion, Parnell is survived by his children, Sharon (Ron) Paul of Waukesha, Kathleen (Ed) Connolly of Loveland, Colo., and Thomas Ryan of West Allis; granddaughter, Tammy (Kevin) Bucholtz; three great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Nick and Stephanie; a brother, Robert (Virginia) Ryan; other relatives and friends.
Parnell was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Rose Ryan; aunts Gussie and Ella Klatt; grandson Ricky DeLeon; brother Roger Ryan; sister Margaret Northway; and nephew Michael Ryan.
He graduated from Waukesha High School in June 1939. Around 1940, Parnell and his brother Bob opened a neighborhood grocery store named Ryan Brothers and later purchased a truck, which they sold vegetables on. Parnell joined the U.S. Army Air Corps for four years.
Parnell, Marion and their family sold produce at their roadside stand in Pewaukee and also Christmas trees in Waukesha for over 30 years.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 6, from 2:00 PM to 3:45 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 810 N. East Ave., Waukesha. Funeral service to follow at 4:00 PM. Private interment will be at Prairie Home Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to First Presbyterian Church are appreciated.
