Janice “Jan” M. Koput (nee Sook), 77, boarded the express bus to heaven on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at her home with her husband, Jim, by her side. She was born on December 8, 1937, to the late Keith and Amy (nee Kyle) Sook in Milwaukee. She attended Waukesha High School and Prospect Hall Secretarial School. On August 16, 1958, she was united in marriage to James “Jim” Koput in Waukesha. She was a stay-at-home mom to her four children. Later she had various jobs including a greeter at McDonald’s. She was a member of First Evangelical Church of Cedar Grove. Jan has lived in Brookfield, New Berlin, Genesee, and since 2000 in Sheboygan County. She found peace after an extended battle with Alzheimer’s, heart disease and other ailments. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Jim; four children, Kathy (Jeff) Kluender of Random Lake, Russ (Cindy) Koput of Lannon, Ken (Sarah) Koput of Tucson Ariz., and Allen (Lorinda) Koput of Delafield; three grandchildren, Joe Koput, Melissa Kluender and Ellie Koput; sister, Sally Witz; daughter-in-law, Linda Koput; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Charles “Chub” Witz.
A funeral service in remembrance of Jan will be held on Tuesday, May 12, at 6:30 pm at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington St., West Bend. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until the time of service. Inurnment of her cremated remains will be at Highland Memorial Park, New Berlin.
