Margine E. ‘Meema’ Kyle
Margine E. “Meema” Kyle, a longtime resident of Hartland, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday, May 25, 2015. She was 85.
She will be deeply missed by her daughter Jean and son-in-law Bill; son Thomas and daughter-in-law Sarah; and her grandsons, Ivan and Cole.
Margine was preceded in death by her parents, Loretta and Floyd; her husband of 42 years, Thomas I. Kyle; and her best friend, Barb Bowen.
Margine received her education degree from Eau Claire State College and accepted her first assignment in Fort Atkinson teaching speech and drama. She later taught in the Brookfield school district.
Margine, Tom and their two children were one of the first families to build in the Woodfield Village subdivision in Hartland in the mid-1970s. Margine became an integral part of the growing community and established many bonds that lasted throughout her life. She was a founding member of Lake Country Congregational Church and, later, a deacon. The Kyles also left an indelible mark on the area with the planting of Kyle’s Woods, which has grown into a dense grove of towering pines behind the home they built.
An avid tennis player, Margine was part of doubles teams at Lake Country Racquet Club for many years. Never one to sit idly, she took up golf in her later years and was a member of Chenequa Country Club, where she and her friends, affectionately known as the “divas,” have a standing reservation every Friday. She was a loyal friend who will be missed by many, including the Airforce Girls, the Packer Group and her dear friends from her teaching days. The family would like to specifically recognize the enduring friendship of Evy Schneider, with whom Margine spoke three times daily.
Meema was a voracious reader and conversationalist who fascinated many with her ability to cite interesting facts. Life was never dull when she was nearby. Her generous spirit shone through in so many ways, especially in her effervescent support of her grandsons. She could be seen and heard on the sidelines of their sporting events, the loudest and proudest fan of all. On the rare occasion she couldn’t attend, she would be sure to call for a complete report.
Meema was a loving, giving person who put others first. She was an incredible listener who always seemed to know the right thing to say. Her family members knew the best place to be when they were sick was on her sofa. Always the caregiver, she did not complain about her own deteriorating health because she did not want anyone to worry. The loss of her energy and joy will leave a definite void within all who knew her.
We will celebrate Margine’s life on Wednesday, June 3, at Lake Country Congregational Church, 400 West Capitol Drive, Hartland. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00pm, with a service to follow.
