Irene Jeanette SmolenIrene Jeanette Smolen (nee Hamilton) entered eternal life on Friday, June 5, 2015, at the age of 100 years. She was born on February 21, 1915, in Watertown, S.D., to Homer and Myrtle (nee Taylor) Hamilton.

Irene was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, as well as a friend to many.

Beloved wife of the late Daniel. Loving mother of Janice (Fred) Zweifel and the late Daniel Lee Smolen (fiancée Helga Udrias). Dear grandmother of Christopher (Lisa) Zweifel, Todd (Peggy) Zweifel, Scott Zweifel and Kelly (Candie) Zweifel. Proud great-grandmother of Logan, Scott F., Gabriel, Miles and Luke. Treasured friend, who was like a second mother, of Helga Udrias; fiancee of Irene’s late son, Dan Smolen. She is also remembered by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her three brothers, Bernard, Ted and Forrest; and her sister Ruth.

The family wishes to thank the Linden Grove Nursing Home staff for their kindness and care given to Irene.

Memorial visitation will be Saturday, June 13, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road (at highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94), Waukesha, from 11:00 AM until the memorial service at 12:30 PM.
