Edward “Ed” Bertram, age 79 of Oconomowoc, was born to eternal life on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Angels-Grace Hospice with his family by his side. Ed is survived by Helen, his loving wife of nearly 50 years; children, Katherine (Mark) Evenson and Heidi (Jim) George; grandchildren Jacob and Sydney Evenson, Meg, Robyn and Christopher George; and sister Gladys LaBudde. Ed is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed Sr. and Kathryn Bertram, and sisters Esther Lucas and Mary Kohler.
Ed was born on June 14, 1935, and raised in Milwaukee on Oak Park Court. Ed was a U.S. Air Force veteran, and a watchmaker for several years at Gimbels.
He was a volunteer firefighter with the Okauchee Fire Department and served for over 30 years with the City of Brookfield Fire Department. Ed had a love for his family, sailing, flying, snow and water skiing, ice boating, motorcycle riding and serving his church.
Ed will be dearly missed by his family and by all that knew him.
Mass for Ed will be held at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church, W359-N8512 Brown Street in Mapleton, on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the time of Mass, officiated by the Rev. Michael Strachota.
The family would like to thank the Okauchee Fire Department, the medical staff at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital and the staff at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc for the care and support they provided to Ed and his family.
