Eileen Berniece Furman
Jan. 28, 1926 — June 13, 2015
Eileen Berniece Furman, one of the feistiest, funniest, strongest women ever, left this world at 89 years old to see her long-lost loved ones and finally have a cigarette somewhere other than on the sidewalk. She felt life was best with a smoke, a cup of black coffee and something sweet to eat while at the kitchen window watching over the birds and her garden in her Fond du Lac home.
Eileen moved to Lake Country Landing Assisted Living in Summit near her daughter Jean in 2013. There she won the hearts of the staff with her favorite phrase that few of the other residents uttered, “Oh S***!” She suffered from dementia, so when she would press her button for help and they asked her what she needed, her answer was “How the hell should I know?”
Thanks to all the LCL staff and hospice for being with her to the end with such love. You are all special angels.
A casual gathering will be held at the home of Jean Furman, 429 Oakwood Ave., Oconomowoc, on Saturday, June 27, at 2 pm. Family, friends and staff are all welcome.
