Edward J. MillerEdward J. Miller, 95, of Oconomowoc, died on Sunday, July 5, 2015, at Angels-Grace Hospice, where he had been a resident only a few days. Born on Dec. 10, 1919, in Batavia, to Marvin and Helena (Plaster) Miller, he graduated from Plymouth High School and married Miriam J. Happe in 1940.

Through the years they lived in Madison, West Allis and Greenfield prior to purchasing their home on Okauchee Lake in 1970.

They had six children and were married for seventy years prior to her death in 2010.

Ed was a mechanical engineer, employed for 27 years at AC Spark Plug Milwaukee and Delco Electronics, working on projects in customer service, the Titan Program, the B-52 guidance system, and other commercial and military projects, retiring in 1976.

While working he earned a BS in mechanical engineering from Marquette University in 1967. Active in Boy Scouts, he was awarded the Silver Beaver for his outstanding leadership. In various years he belonged to the American Camping Association, Golden K Kiwanis, and was a certified master naturalist with the Sheboygan County Conversation District, planting trees on the family farm and wherever he lived.

Edward and Miriam traveled extensively throughout their married life. He was a member of United Methodist Churches in Milwaukee, Oconomowoc and Batavia.

Surviving are his six children, 12 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren: James (Irene, deceased) Miller and son, Christopher (Kathy Zamba) Miller; Sandra (Frank) Thompson and children Trent (Amy) Thompson with Heath and Kyra, Troy (Heather) Thompson with Grace and William, and Jill Thompson (Rod Podawitz); Suzanne (Steven) White and son, Joel White (Chloe) White with Laura; Robert (Charlotte) Miller and children, Kimberly (Jonathan) Fadner with Jack and Charlie, and Matthew Miller; Marcia (Ben) Bohnsack and children, Kevin (Tabitha) Bohnsack with Natalie and Sadie, Todd (Alicia) Bohnsack with Ross, Marin, Frances and Sylvan, and Brenda Bohnsack (Blair Shaman) with Evan and Leah; and Janice (Darrell) Olson and children, Elana Olson and Brian (Shannon) Olson with Piper. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Helena Miller; his brother, Irving; his wife, Miriam; and one grandchild, Jeremy White.

A service in his memory will be held on today, July 9, at 3 p.m. at Zion United Methodist Church in Batavia, with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Interment will follow the service and a supper will be provided at the church.
