She was preceded in death by her father, Leberg Jordan; mother, Alfrida Jordan; husband, Robert Olai Bache-Wiig; and son, John Jordan Bache-Wiig.

Barbara lived life to the fullest. She grew up in Minneapolis during the Great Depression. She graduated from the university with a BA in 1947 and a MS in speech pathology in 1952. Barb pursued a career in speech therapy and had a private practice for many years. She married Robert Bache-Wiig in 1945 and they raised four children in Waukesha. Barbara endured the tragic loss of her youngest son, John, in 1972. She was a great friend to many and shared her passions willingly. Dedicated to lifelong learning she practiced yoga, became a poet, publishing a number of volumes, played in her community band, studied Italian and championed the rights of women. She was also a teacher who developed and taught courses: Infertility Insights and Adoption Insights for UWW. To each of these pursuits she brought an infectious smile and an indomitable spirit embodied in her motto, “Onward.”
A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at the Retzer Nature Center, S14-W28167 Madison St., Waukesha, WI 53188, on Sunday July 26, from 11 AM to 1 PM. Friends are invited to share a memory of Barb.
