Beloved mother, sister, aunt, friend, neighbor, and social justice change agent, Bonnie Montgomery of Silver Spring, Md., passed at home following a brief illness, surrounded by loving kindness, on May 18, 2015.

Born May 28, 1942, to Arnold and Geneva (Widmer) Montgomery and raised on Pewaukee Lake in Wisconsin, Bonnie graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in social work from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1964. Following a marriage, child rearing, and therapy and interior design careers, Bonnie earned a J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2002, was admitted to the Maryland Bar, and devoted her last 13 years of life to serving the community through the practice of law.

The family wishes to thank the Washington Home and Community Hospices for the warm, gifted, compassionate care they provided throughout the last weeks of Bonnie’s life. Cremains will be privately scattered at sites meaningful to Bonnie.

In celebration of Bonnie’s life, donations will be accepted for a memorial bench at a favorite nature spot, Olbrich Botanical Gardens in Madison. Please contact the family for further information at bjmontgomery@msn.com.
