Kathleen Marie Scharber, 64, of Waukesha, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Kathi was born in Madison on June 21, 1951, to Archie and Rose (Morschauser) Skogman.
She spent her youth in Wisconsin and eventually Minnesota, graduating from Coon Rapids High in 1969.
On August 14, 1976, she married Mike Scharber of Zimmerman, Minn. They relocated back to Wisconsin, where they raised their three boys Michael, Nick and Quinn in Waukesha.
Much of Kathi’s professional career was spent in customer service, where her ability to befriend anyone shined. But the serving and taking care of others did not stop there. She loved hosting holiday celebrations and family gatherings where she created wonderful meals and entertainment for her family and friends.
She was a very talented crafter, sewer and avid quilter, later starting a crafting business with several other creative friends. She loved music, played the clarinet, and never missed an opportunity to try to teach her boys to dance. She enjoyed travel, especially to the lake country and Sanibel Island, Fla. Most importantly to her, she was a dedicated, loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother.
She will be greatly missed by her family and those who had the honor of knowing her.
Kathi is survived by her husband of 38 years Mike; her sons, Michael of Chicago, Nick (Angela) of Waukesha and Quinn of Milwaukee; her granddaughters, Haley and Kaya; her mother, Rose Skogman; and brothers, Andy and John of Coon Rapids; her sisters, Gloria (Dennis) Castle of Zimmerman and Renee Hay of Jupiter, Fla.; and a large extended family and many dear friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the medical team and staff at the Waukesha Cancer Center and Heartland Home Hospice for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Heartland Hospice, 1233 N. Mayfair Road, Suite 100, Milwaukee, WI 53226.
“Remembering Kathi Scharber” A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
