Florence E. Pierson of Waukesha died peacefully on Friday, August 7, 2015, at age 93 at her home, Avalon Square. She was born on Aug. 1, 1922, the oldest child of six to Arthur and Anna Karl. Florence was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She served her God and community through counseling ministries at Elmbrook Church, mission trips abroad, and as a volunteer chaplain at Waukesha Memorial Hospital for many years.
She was preceded in death by husband John Pierson, son Alan Pierson, great grandson Willem Baran, and brothers Richard and Walter Karl. She will be sadly missed by children Joanne Pierson, Nancy (Ken) Strong, Linda Markham, Donald Pierson, Lois Pierson, Robert (Maia Hanson) Pierson, and Warren (Ann) Pierson. She was the dear grandmother to John (Elizabeth) Pierson, Ean (Mari) Pierson, Jeremy (Shonda) Baran, Ben Baran, Courtney (Sarah) Strong, Marcy (Matthew Grover) DeLeon, Anne and Richard “RP” Markham, Natalie Pierson, Thor, Nola, Nadine Hanson, Madeline (Tyler) Goodwill, Andrew, Will, Patrick, Barbara, Amelia, and Chloe Pierson, and great-grandmother to Clara and Flora Pierson, Antonette DeLeon, Antony Markham, Adelyne Grover, Skyler DiBerardini- Pierson, and Eloise Goodwill.
Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 13, at Elmbrook Church chapel, 777 S. Barker Road, Brookfield, at 4:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 5 p.m. The family wishes to thank Avalon Square and Seasons Hospice for the exceptional care provided. Florence’s wish to donate her body to research at the Medical College of Wisconsin was granted.
