Howard A. Dowty, age 70, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully at his home on August 13, 2015, with his daughters by his side.
Howard was born on November 29, 1944, in Waukesha, the son of the late Thomas and Viola (Kobs) Dowty. Howard was a veteran of the United States Navy.
Although Howard retired from Waukesha Engine, working as a maintenance mechanic, his true passion in life was being a lumberjack.
Howard is survived by his daughters, Christina (Adam) Dickinson of Racine and Rebecca (Robert) Golden of Hayward; grandchildren, Ariel, Grace, Noah and Sarah Dickinson, Cassandra and Dustin Dowty and Kyle Youngman; sister, Laura Bannach of Stevens Point; brothers, Paul (Pam) of Oconomowoc, Robert of Pewaukee, James (Louise) of Waldo, Eugene (Virginia) of Waldo and Raymond (Audrey) of Milladore; and sister-in-law Gloria of Waukesha. Howard is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Richard and George; and sister-in-law Lois.
Celebration of life followed by military honors will be held on Sunday, August 16, at 2:00PM at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home, 320 W. Main St., Palmyra.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 1:00PM until the time of service at the funeral home.
