ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, ILL.
Carol Vetta (nee Cunningham)
Elizabeth Carol Vetta (nee Cunningham) passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, August 14, 2015, at the Northwest Community Hospital and Hospice in Arlington Heights, Ill., at the age of 85.
Carol was the last of eight siblings and was born on August 20, 1929, in Janesville, and wife to the late James M. Vetta, who preceded her in death by 29 years. She was the homecoming queen at Carroll and married the star quarterback. Carol enjoyed spending time with her family, golfing, volunteering, traveling and a good cup of coffee and pie.
She often hosted family getaways that kept everyone close and on their toes, having to match wits with her and enjoying her quick laugh and sense of humor. You always saw those smiling Irish eyes when she was with her grandkids, won a couple of dollars on the golf course from her sons, or the adventures while traveling with her daughters. She lived her life for her family.
Carol is survived by five children, Dave (Katy) Vetta, Tom (Dagmar) Vetta, Sue (Ron) Zientarski, Jean (Joe) Mauthe and Patty (Bill) Sullivan; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
We want to thank all the special people at the Moorings, Northwest Community Hospital and Hospice, and her caregiver and good friend Kelley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the James and Carol Vetta scholarship fund at Carroll University.
Per Carolís wishes, private family services will be held.
