James Henry PritzlaffJames Henry Pritzlaff of Oconomowoc passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015, at the age of 82 at home surrounded by his family. Jim lived life to the fullest as a husband, father, grandfather, U.S. Air Force pilot, teacher, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sandra (nee Weege); his children Creighton (Catherine) Pritzlaff of Oshkosh, Hilary (Jeff) Pritzlaff- Nathan of Apex, N.C. and Ocean City, Md.; daughter-in-law Caroline Pritzlaff- Beard; son-in-law Jerald Quaden; grandchildren John and Julianna Pritzlaff and sister Jo Brown.

Soon after graduating from Oconomowoc High School, Jim enlisted in the Air Force attending cadet flight school. In July 1954, Jim got his wings and commission and spent two years in Misawa, Japan, flying RF84F Reconnaissance Planes before returning to Wisconsin. From there, Jim went to Carroll College to become a teacher. Jim joined the 440th Air Tactical Wing of The United States Air Force Reserves in 1958 flying C-119s and later C130s. He retired from the USAFR in 1982 as a lieutenant colonel.

Jim taught elementary school in the Oconomowoc School District and Milwaukee school system for 27 years. He was a dedicated teacher and mentor to his students. He loved his time in class with his “kids.”

Jim’s favorite times were spent with his family and close friends in Lake Geneva; Ocean City, Md.; Apex, N.C.; Oshkosh; The Waterwheel Ranch in Bond, Colo.; and mostly at the family house of 55 years in Oconomowoc. Jim loved the outdoors, building, inventing, engineering, reading history books, working in the yard and tinkering with old cars.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at Glenview Memorial Gardens, W1219 Glenview Ave., Ixonia 53036 on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, at 1:00 p.m.
