Diana Lynn Smith (Erickson)
Diana Lynn Smith (Erickson), 61, of Nashville, Tenn., was welcomed into God’s loving embrace Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Norma Erickson; her son, Richard (Ricky) Smith; and her grandson, Stephen Smith III.
She was born May 31, 1954, in Waukesha. Diana attended Kettle Moraine High School and completed her bachelor’s at Mount Mary College, majoring in dietetics, in 1988. She went on to earn her master’s degree through Franklin University of Medicine in 2004. She raised her family in Waukesha before relocating to Clarksville, Tenn., in 2006.
Diana was a clinical dietician at Waukesha Memorial Hospital and Gateway Medical Center until she retired in 2014. She lead support groups and classes as a certified diabetes instructor and was an active member of Gilda’s Club of Nashville, Tenn.
Mom was passionate about making a difference in the lives of others through education, environmental awareness and good food. She loved to spend time with her friends and family, ride her horse, explore her hometown, and enjoy life off of the beaten path.
Diana is survived by her two sons and their families: Stephen and Christine, of Clarksville, Tenn.; and Cristopher and Lisa of Franklin, Tenn. She also is survived by her grandchildren, Brianna and Julia, with a grandson or granddaughter expected in October.
In lieu of a funeral donation, the family is requesting that contributions be made in Diana’s name to Gilda’s Club of Nashville.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29, at Eastland Funeral Home in Nashville, Tenn. Following will be a celebration of life held at Gilda’s Club of Nashville starting at noon. In April of 2016 (date to be determined), we will have additional services in Waukesha and inurnment at Prairie Home Cemetery.
