Sanford A. Moen

Sanford A. Moen passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2015, at the age of 90.

He was the wonderful and caring husband of Mary (nee Hilton) for 61 years; beloved father of Tully and Laura (Christopher) Fontana; proud grandfather of Kara Fontana; and dear brother of the Rev. Marshall D. Moen. He is also loved by many relatives and friends.

Sanford was born on November 13, 1924, to Tollef and Aagot Moen and graduated in 1942 from Stoughton High School. He proudly served his country in WWII (April 1943 to December 1945) through the 17th Field Artillery Observation Battalion. He took part in the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. In 1951, he received his masterís degree (journalism) from the University of Wisconsin- Madison. He became a special agent for the FBI, serving from 1951 to 1979.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and the Green Bay Packers.

Visitation will be at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1750 N. Calhoun Road, Brookfield, on Friday, August 28, from 12:30-1PM, with a funeral service at 1PM.

Burial with military funeral honors to follow at Wisconsin Memorial Park, 13235 W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Calvary Lutheran Church, the UW Cancer Center at Pro-Health Care and the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight Inc.
