Eugene ‘Gene’ R. Solveson
Eugene “Gene” R. Solveson of New Berlin found peace in God’s loving arms on August 21, 2015, at the age of 92. Gene was born and raised on the family He was a World War II Navy veteran, having served in the South Pacific on the mine sweeper the USS Capable. Gene was a proud member of the electricians Local Union # 494 and the IBEW for 65 years.
He retired as an electrician at UW-Milwaukee. He was a 35-year member of the Sons of Norway Fosselyngen Lodge #82, Milwaukee. He was an avid amateur photographer all his life, and has chronicled the family history through his lifetime hobby.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 51 years, Jayne (Bertelson) Solveson, and dear son James Solveson, his “best buddy.” He was also preceded by his brother Charles Solveson; sister Elizabeth “Beth” Taft; father Walter Solveson; and mother, Frieda (Munson) Solveson.
He is survived by his in-laws Margaret (Charles) Solveson, Charles (Beth) Taft, Bruce and Marian (Bertelson) Pfeiffer, and Marcella (John) Bertelson.
He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Thursday, August 27, followed by the memorial service at 6:00 at the Evert-Luko Funeral Home, 170 Warren Ave., Hartland.
Interment will follow the service at Holy Innocents Cemetery, Nashotah.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight.
