Geraldine L. Callow (nee Doman)Geraldine L. Callow (nee Doman), formerly of Brookfield and Waukesha, passed peacefully on Aug. 19, 2015, in Pahrump, Nev., at age 87.

Geri lived at Inspirations Senior Living, where she had been a founding resident since May 2013.

Geri’s interests were many throughout her life.

Graduating from Waukesha High School in 1945, she was a musician and a cheerleader. She led a five piece, all-girl band, “Jerry and the Rhythm Girls,” playing sax and clarinet with her sister, Gladys, on drums.

In 1952, she married F.H. “Bart” Callow, and they raised two girls, teaching her skills of sewing, knitting, gardening, canning, antiquing, and music.

Members of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church since 1954, she served in Women’s Guild and in Senior Choir as a tenor (ah ... those cheerleading years!).

Geri worked for the Waukesha school system from 1966 to 1992. She became very politically active, serving at the local, district and state levels, AFSCME, AFL-CIO, Waukesha Labor Council, Executive Board Council 40, and United Way board.

An active Democrat, Geri was proud to be chosen a Wisconsin state delegate for the 1984 Democratic National Convention held in San Francisco. She was also selected “Woman of the Year” by the local chapter of the National Organization for Women.

After retirement, Geri and Bart relocated to Pahrump, Nev., in 1996 to enjoy the warmer climate.

There, they attended church regularly at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. They both were lifelong Green Bay Packers fans.

Geri was preceded in death by her brother, Norbert, sister, Gladys, nephew Randy, and loving husband, Bart. She is survived by daughters Lynn Callow (Stephan McNutt) and Lori Callow (Douglas Bale), nephews and cousins.

We are grateful for the wonderful care Mom received from the loving staff at Inspirations S.L. and ProCare Hospice.

Visitation is Saturday, Sept. 12, at 1 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 1205 S. East Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the church or to the Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County are appreciated.
