Dorothy E. Sanders passed away September 2, 2015. Dorothy was born on June16, 1931, in Defiance, Ohio, the daughter of John and Stella (nee Kerr) Richard and grew up on a farm in rural Towanda, Illinois.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Wayne Sanders whom she met as a young lady in Normal, Illinois. In addition to her husband, Dorothy is survived by children Dave (Sandie) Sanders, Denise (Guy) Conn, Lisa (Paul) Blumer, Renee (Mike) Ascher and Aimee (Dennis) Quattlebaum. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brothers Ray, Chuck and Norman (Delores) Richard; sisters Joan Perkins and Cleda (Bruce) Lee; and other relatives and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Stella Richard, and by brothers Don, John, Bob and Joe Richard.
Dorothy was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church in Waukesha. She came to accept her Lord and Savior at an early age and followed Him all of her life. Dorothy had a deep affection for music which she showed as she sang and played piano and organ for her church. Dorothy was the church pianist for many years and also served her Lord as the church and school secretary.
Dorothy had an abiding love for her family and friends. She took delight in each time she spent with friends, children and grandchildren.
Dorothy and Wayne traveled the world together. Their many trips took them to all over the globe — from Thailand, China and Hong Kong to Israel, throughout Europe from Normandy to Paris. She always fondly remembered visiting her brother John and his wife Barbara in England. Dorothy and Wayne also enjoyed the many cruises they took. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. Dorothy loved all of these experiences she shared together with Wayne, her husband for 60 years.
Visitation for Dorothy will take place on Tuesday, September 8, from 4 to 6 PM at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road (at highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94), Waukesha, with funeral services at 6 PM. Further visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 9, from 1 to 2 PM at East Lawn Funeral Home, 1102 Airport Road, Bloomington, IL 61704, with a funeral service at 2 PM. Burial will follow at East Lawn Cemetery.
