MUKWONAGO

Leona Alma Zillmer (nee Ristow)
May 12, 1923 ó Sept. 5, 2015

Leona Alma Zillmer (nee Ristow) found her ultimate eternal peace late in the day on Sept. 5, 2015, at Linden Grove Nursing Home-Mukwonago, where she had resided for nearly three years. Prior to that, she was living at Linden Ridge and Linden Court assisted care for a little over two years. Our family would like to thank the many fine workers who gave her such great care over the past five years. Before her health began to fail, she resided in New Berlin for many years with her husband Lloyd, who preceded her in death in the spring of 2009.

Lloyd and Leona raised three wonderful children in their modest New Berlin home: Barbara Griffin (William) and James Zillmer (Keri), both of Mukwonago, and Sharon Ast (Clifford) of Richland Center. Leona also leaves behind six grandchildren: Kristta Bellinger (Kenneth), Brenda Storm (Ronald), Kalynn Zillmer, Kelley Viney (Josh), Kiel Zillmer (Caitlin), Joseph Ast; and four current great-grandsons: Arlo and Murphy Zillmer, Nolan Bellinger, and Levi Storm with an additional grandchild (maybe a girl?) due in November.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lydia Ristow (nee Buse), and a younger brother, Kenneth Ristow. Her older sister Norma Wendt is the only surviving sibling.

Leona was an active member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukesha for many years, participating in the Womenís Guild, the choir, and also an avid volunteer at Linden Grove-Waukesha. She greatly enjoyed playing many different card games, but in later years became an expert at the game of Yahtzee, often winning games right up until her final week at the nursing home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Alzheimerís Association would be appreciated by the family.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. on Friday, Sept. 11, with a memorial service to follow officiated by Pastor John Mattek at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road (at highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94), Waukesha. A private burial will be held the following day for immediate family at Pilgrimís Rest Cemetery in Pewaukee.
