Rodger W. Holden, surrounded by his family, found peace on Sept. 5, 2015, at age 79, going on 80 years.
He was the loving husband of Joan (nee Scarce) for almost 60 years; loving dad of Lori (Jeffrey) Litrenta and James W. (Marlene) Holden; very, very proud grandpa of Matthew Litrenta; dear brother of Raymond Holden; and brother-in-law of Janice (Neil) Swanson, Susan (Richard) Nettesheim and Mary Ankomeus. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tracey; his parents, John and Ione; and his brother Donald.
Visitation will be Saturday, Sept. 12, at Redeemer United Church of Christ, W220N4915 Town Line Road, Menomonee Falls, from 11 AM until time of funeral services at 1 PM. Private inurnment will be at Prairie Home Cemetery, Waukesha.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to AngelsGrace Hospice or the church are appreciated.
Rodger was born in Tappen, N.D., on March 22, 1936, and was raised in Waukesha. He graduated from Waukesha High School in 1955, and married his high school sweetheart, Joan Scarce, in 1956. Rodger was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He deeply loved and was proud of his family, including his dogs and grand-dogs. He was especially proud of his grandson Matthew being a United States Marine.
Rodger was employed by the City of Waukesha, where he retired after more than 30 years. Rodger was passionate about the Packers and NASCAR, music and movies and was an avid collector of Waukesha memorabilia, as well as a member of the Waukesha 1834 Club. Rodger will be especially remembered for his sense of humor, outgoing personality and storytelling.
