Joseph William Barry
June 29, 1938 Sept. 6, 2015

Joe Barry died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015, at Three Pillars Rest and Residential Home in Dousman. He went peacefully to his eternal home surrounded by his sister, Jeanine, and a few close friends.

He was born to Joseph and Lucille (Clark) Barry on June 29, 1938, in Milwaukee. His boyhood was spent on the family farm land now owned by Target Distribution Center. Joe attended St. Jerome’s Catholic School through eighth grade. He graduated from Oconomowoc High School. Joe was an athlete in school and this talent took him to state competition in track and field. His love of sports remained throughout his life as he was an avid Packers, Badgers and Brewers fan. Joe volunteered for the military and served in the Army. After service life, Joe worked and traveled as a salesman. He was active at the Lake Area Club where he made lifelong friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Margery, Kathleen, David, and Johnny.

Joe is survived by his brother, Larry (Daphne, Ala.) and his sister, Jeanine Price (Oconomowoc). He is further survived by nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and friends.

Joe will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends. Joe had a big heart, kind ways, and was always ready with a joke followed by his infectious laugh. Joe and Larry would talk every other day and would giggle at some of the old happenings at the farm. Joe lived with his sister Jeanine before residing in Dousman. He loved to tell stories and listen to tales his pals would relive and share. Joe loved food and especially sweets. His friend Duane Hoffmann would keep him well stocked with cookies and Ho Ho’s. He often shared these treats with some of his favorite nurses.

He received the Catholic Sacrament of Last Rites after which the priest asked him if he was ready to die and meet his Maker. Joe raised up both thumbs and said his final words on earth, “I’m all set.” And he was! Many thanks to all of the wonderful people at Three Pillars. He was well cared for by the whole staff.

Private funeral services will be held by his family.
