Richard Henry Klawitter, 82, formerly of Fond du Lac, passed away on October 14, 2015, surrounded by family. He was born May 15, 1933, in Fond du Lac, a son of the late George and Florine Klawitter.

Richard graduated from Winnebago Lutheran Academy in 1951 and from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1958 with a Bachelor of Arts in English literature. Richard worked as a technical writer at Johnson Controls in Milwaukee before moving back to Fond du Lac, where he worked at Giddings & Lewis Machine Tool Company and then Mercury Marine where he served as product training manager, product information coordinator and various roles for the service department.

On June 25, 1955, he married Louise Josephine Schwartz at St. Patrickís Church in Fond du Lac.

Richard was a founding member and served as president of the Fond du Lac Softball Association, Inc. and as director of the Fond du Lac Hockey Club. He was also a member of the Fond du Lac Bears Hockey team.

Richard was a quiet man who preferred to lead by example. He treated those around him with respect, and he lived with a high level of integrity. He possessed an incredible amount of knowledge on virtually any subject and had great respect for nature and lifelong interest in local history.

Richard was a devoted father and grandfather who is survived by his children, Cindy (Ken) Wick of Waukesha, Rick and his longtime companion Angela of Menasha, and Mike (Pam) of Jenison, Mich.; his grandchildren, Dragan and Zoran Obradovic of Milwaukee, Angel Klawitter of Neenah, and Matthew and Tricia of Jenison, Mich.; and great-granddaughters Brianna and Gracie of Neenah; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Louise.

A private memorial service and inurnment will be held for the family at the All Faiths Chapel Mausoleum in Fond du Lac In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials in Richardís name to the Wildlife In Need Center of Oconomowoc, www.helpingwildlife.org, or to the humane society of the donorís choice.
