CEDAR GROVE

Sally Ann Armitage Bakkom
Aug. 20, 1926 ó Oct. 15, 2015

Sally Ann Armitage Bakkom, age 89, passed away on October 15, 2015, at Cedar Grove Gardens Assisted Living Center in Cedar Grove. She was born on August 20, 1926, in Waukesha, to David and Gladys Armitage.

Sally grew up in Waukesha and graduated from Waukesha High School in 1944. She was always on the lookout for others from the class of í44. We can only imagine the fun the group must have had together for them to hold such a special place in her heart. After high school, she attended Prospect Hall studying secretarial work, and then worked at Waukesha Motor Works ó she tried to lead us to believe she ran the Motor Works!

Sally married Dick Bakkom in 1950. They followed Dickís job with International Harvester around the East Coast and Midwest. With each move, Sally reestablished a home and friendships for her family.

Sally volunteered at hospital, the Cedar Grove Library, and as a church secretary. In Arlington Heights, Ill., she worked for several years as the secretary to the chaplainís office. Her son David of Cedar Grove and her daughter Susan Thompson of Waukesha survive Sally. Susanís husband, Scott, and their daughters Emily and Kirstin join Susan and David in fond memories of laughter, silliness, and warmth shared with Sally.

Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Dick, in 2000. Dick and Sally enjoyed camping, curling, gathering with friends, adoring their granddaughters, and gazing out at Lake Michigan.

A visitation will be held at Sally and Dickís beach home they built in retirement. Sallyís son David lives there now, and will host, on October 31, a time for friends to gather and celebrate the fun that was Sally. Please contact David at 920-668-8079 for details.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Cedar Grove Public Library, Cedar Grove, where Sally volunteered for many years.
