Cosmina ‘Connie’ A. Bedwell

Cosmina “Connie” A. Bedwell of Waukesha, formerly of Brookfield, died on Thursday, October 22, 2015, at age 82. She was born in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of Frederick and Dianella (nee Ornella) Pagura.

Connie received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Dayton and became a teacher in 1955.

She went on to receive her Master of Arts degree in education from Ohio State University in guidance and counseling, shortly before marrying Raymond T. Bedwell Jr. and moving to Milwaukee in 1959. Connie was an elementary school teacher for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee for many years, retiring in 2000. She also enjoyed teaching English as a second language with the Literacy Council of Greater Waukesha to children of refugee families. Connie was an active volunteer at the Waukesha County Public Museum and Historical Society and the Waukesha Civic Theatre. A devout Catholic and active member of St.

Joseph Catholic Church, Connie served as a catechist and was involved in many Christian women’s groups.

She enjoyed reading, gardening, the beautiful Riverwalk, visiting with friends and traveling by train, but most of all she was proud to have become a mother four times and a grandmother. Connie will always be remembered for her friendliness, kindness and enthusiastic nature.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Mark R. (Cheryl) Bedwell of Hudson, Fla., Michael F. (Linda) Bedwell of Brookfield, David J. (Heidi) Bedwell of Seattle and Elizabeth M. (Gregory Capper) Bedwell of Whitefish Bay; her grandchildren, Michelle (Ricky) Zunke, Melissa Bedwell, Margaret Bedwell, Ashton Bedwell, Emmett Bedwell, Sherman Bedwell and Ona (Terrence) Broach-Hawkins; and her great-grandchildren, Delena Cooper, Jaivon Broach and Kalisee Bedwell. She is further survived by her brother Robert (Judy) Pagura of Medina, Ohio; her sisters-in-law Elaine Pagura of Winnipeg and Rita Pagura of Columbus, Ohio; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; her baby grandson, Mercer Bedwell; and her brothers Frank and Frederick Pagura. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 29, from 5:00 until the time of the 8:00 p.m. vigil service at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha.
