Florence Anna Peterson

Florence Anna Peterson, 91, of Sparta, formerly of Mukwonago, died on Friday, Nov. 6, 2015, at the Morrow Memorial Home, Sparta. She was born in Vernon on April 25, 1924, to the late Oscar and Mary (Box) Marquardt.

Florence graduated from Mukwonago High School in May 1942. After graduation, she worked at Waukesha Motor Co. for five years and National Advertising for three years. Florence married Floyd Peterson of Sparta on May 23, 1953. They were married for 53 years. He preceded her in death Sept. 23, 2006.

She worked for Sparta Brush Co. for 31 years until her retirement in 1988. Florence was the secretary of the VFW Auxiliary Post #2112 for over 20 years. Florence was also the secretary and treasurer for Trinity Lutheran Church of Sparta for over 25 years. She loved bowling; she bowled in leagues in Waukesha and Sparta for many years and went to state and VFW tournaments in Wisconsin.

Florence is survived by her three children: a daughter, Linda (Mike) Nivinski of Rockford, Ill., and her two sons, Keith (Kathy) Peterson and Mark Peterson, both of Sparta; her grandchildren Brian (Amy) Kronberg of Lisbon, Brenda (John) Bollig of Sparta, Tim Peterson of Sparta and Sara (Darrin) Anderson of Mauston; her great-grandchildren Bradley and Benjamin Kronberg of Hartland, Christa, Katelynn and Callie Bolling and Hayden Peterson; and great-great granddaughter Alicia, all of Sparta. She is further survived by her sister, Grace (Duane) Hurd of Waukesha, and a niece, Lana (Rod) Kuenzi of Waukesha.

In addition to her husband, Floyd, and parents, Oscar and Mary, she was preceded in death by her grandson Michael Todd Kronberg and a brother, Donald Marquardt.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sparta, with the Rev. Mark Kvale officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Sparta. Family and friends are invited to call at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home on Sunday from 5-7 p.m. Visitation continues Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
