Shirley Ann Rather Waltritsch
Feb. 22, 1941 — Nov. 8, 2015

Shirley Ann Rather Waltritsch was born in Oconomowoc to Lawrence and Irene (Grunewald) Rather. Shirley attended Brown Street School, a one-room school house in the Town of Oconomowoc. She went to Oconomowoc High School and was in the graduating class of 1959.

After high school, she worked at Snyder’s clothing store where she met her husband, Ramon Waltritsch. They married in December 1959.

Shirley went to nursing school while she was working as a waitress at several local restaurants.

They moved to Arizona City, Ariz., after Ray retired and lived close to their oldest daughter, grandchildren and great-granddaughters.

Shirley was preceded in death by both parents, her brother Kenneth Rather, sister Sally Dobberfuhl, and infant sister Wendy Sue.

She is survived by her husband, Ramon of Arizona; daughters Lizabeth (Lonny) White of Arizona City and Lisa (John) Hannnes of Muskego; grandchildren Amber Lagos, Dene’ Black Cloud and Aaron Waltritsch-Lagos; and two great-grandchildren, Shai-ann and Koya Black Cloud. She is further survived by a sister Sharon (Lynn) Longley of Winter; brother Larry (Suzy) Rather of Oconomowoc; brother-in-law Dennis Dobberfuhl of Tucson; sister-in-law Marge Moertl; and sister-in-law Annie Scher. She is further survived by numerous nephews, nieces and friends.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Casa Grande, Ariz., and was known for volunteering her time to help her church congregation. She was an excellent cook and could sew anything that needed mending. She volunteered her time to help rescue wildlife with her daughter Betsy, but her favorite thing to do was loving her grandkids and great-grandkids with her whole heart.

She will be greatly missed by many, including birds, cats, dogs as well as tortoises.

A private memorial service was held at Grace Lutheran Church in Casa Grande, Ariz., with burial of ashes to be at a later date in Ixonia.
