Marie Esther Janney

Marie Esther Janney (nee Schoengrund) passed away peacefully on November 12, 2015, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, William F. Janney and Kay L. Janney, in Hayward, where she has resided for the past three years. Born on May 22, 1911, in Loyal, Marie was 104 years young.
Marie is also survived by her grandchildren, Stephanie A. Janney (Kevin Boudreau) of San Francisco and William D. Janney of Milwaukee; daughter, Marilyn (Tom) Burger of Wales and grandchildren Matthew Hartz, Holly Dykstra of Waukesha, Ryan (Kate) Hartz of Wales and Jonathan (Jennifer) Hartz of Milwaukee; seven great-grandchildren; and sister Mildred Ballsrud of Charleston, Ill., as well as many nieces and nephews.
Marie was a proud graduate of the Waukesha High School class of 1933 and the Mount Sinai Hospital School of Nursing in Milwaukee in 1936. She practiced as a registered nurse at Waukesha Memorial Hospital and office nurse for Dr. Gantz until her retirement.
Marie was met at the gates of heaven by her parents, Paul and Rosetta (Racie) Schoengrund; her beloved son, Douglas J. Janney; her brother, William Schoengrund; and sisters Lauretta Schaefer, Isabelle Seales and June Spielman.
Marie was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Waukesha and the Ina Reid-Chapter No. 55 — Order of the Eastern Star.
Known as Mom or Grandma to many, Marie will be truly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 19, at 2:00 PM at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 300 Carroll St., Waukesha.
