Daniele Lynn ‘Cookie’ Haber
Jan. 15, 1943 — Dec. 8, 2015
Daniele Lynn “Cookie” Haber died peacefully on December 8, 2015, at Angels Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc.
She was born on January 15, 1943, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Howard and Evelyn (Schmidt) Knueppel, the sister of Fredrick. She grew up in Hales Corners, where she was known as “Cookie” and graduated from Greenfield High School in 1961.
While her daughter Mia was growing up on the south side of Milwaukee, Daniele volunteered at St. Barbara Church and as a Girl Scout troop leader. At the time, she went by her middle name, “Lynn.” Many in the neighborhood will remember Lynn Stolpa as an enthusiastic, fun and energetic leader of young women.
In 1982, Daniele married Terry Haber, and the family moved to Waukesha. The same year, Terry began working at Fletcher Arms on Main Street in Waukesha. They were both involved in shooting sports, including the Waukesha Handgun League, Cowboy shooting, and other competitive shooting events around the Midwest. As a longtime member of the NRA, Daniele enjoyed traveling to many NRA national conventions with groups of friends.
In 1991, Daniele and Terry bought Booked Solid in West Allis and Daniele turned it into the largest magazine store in the state. Many of her customers became friends, and the store became a social center for many people.
Daniele loved her many pets including her parrots, cats, her greyhound Abigail, and her “granddogs” Louie, Gypsy, and Ramsey.
Daniele is survived by her husband, Terry Haber; her daughter Mia Haber; and her son-in-law Joseph Betz.
She is further survived by her brother Fred (Cindy), and many other relatives and friends.
Donations may be made in her name to the NRA, Greyhound Pets of America Wisconsin, or AngelsGrace Hospice.
There will be a celebration of her life at at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road (at highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94), Waukesha, on Monday, December 21, from 4-6pm, with a memorial service to follow at 6pm.
