She was born on July 1, 1926 in Vernon, the daughter of Henry and Flora (Hotelling) Sorenson of Muskego.
Doris lived in Muskego/New Berlin all her life until 2010 when she moved closer to her children in Arizona due to health issues.
She married her true love, Harold Henning, on March 23, 1946. He preceded her in death on March 29, 1998.
After marriage, they built a house on her family’s homestead in Muskego (which later became New Berlin). In later years, she worked at a dime store in Muskego and at a craft store in Waukesha.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Bonnie Eagleheart; two brothers, Eugene and Leslie; and her parents.
Besides being a loving and devoted mother and wife, she enjoyed painting, doing crafts and sewing. She also loved music and dancing. She was a member of the Muskego Playhouse and was a longtime member of the New Berlin Historical Society and Muskego Ladies Aid.
Survivors include her sons Richard of Manchester and Jack (Cathy) of Gilbert, Ariz.; daughter Lynn (David) Steinhauer of Gilbert, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Steven (Angela) and Brandon (Amy) Steinhauer, Mara (Andrew) Ruetten, Stacey Henning and Melissa Johnson; five great-grandchildren, Grant, Elizabeth, Lillian, Leila and Gwendolyn Steinhauer; and special friend for many years, Steve Dumire.
No funeral service will be held. Interment will be at Sunnyside Cemetery in New Berlin at a later date.
Memorials would be appreciated to the New Berlin Historical Society, Muskego Ladies Aid or the Alzheimer’s Association.
