Esther Ann Mengel (nee Zaidan) was born on Nov. 26, 1923, in Fennimore to Philip and Nasema Zaidan and passed away into Godís loving arms on Dec. 21, 2015.
She is survived by her children Peter (Lynn) of Loganville, Ga., Deb (Philip) Mengel of Waukesha, Julia (Robert) Stavran of Weston, Barbara (Gregory) Romanello of North Prairie, Joseph (Mary) of Naperville, Ill., Jane of Pewaukee, Robert (Kristin) of Highland, Ind., and Margaret Jaeger (Scott Grainer) of Nashotah. She was the beloved grandmother of 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and counting.
She is further survived by her sister Barbara Revenson of Mequon; her brother, David (Rose) Zaidan of Tallahassee, Fla.; nieces, nephews, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Mengel; her son, Philip; and her sister Lavon.
Esther worked as a librarianís aide at Kettle Moraine Middle School. She enjoyed life, loved to play games like bridge and Scrabble, and was a very competitive player. She loved to meet new people and everyone was drawn to her with her great sense of humor and witty remarks. She loved to travel and see new places and was proud to say she had been in all 50 states. Her travels will continue in heaven.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2015, at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec.
28, 2015, at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 1001 S. Silver Lake St., Oconomowoc.
Memorials can be made to St. Jerome Building Fund and the American Cancer Society.
