Kathleen M. Uglum-Gier

Kathleen M. Uglum-Gier of Waukesha passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at the Virginia Nursing Home at the age of 75 years. She was born in Wauwatosa on December 9, 1940, the daughter of Arnold and Bertha (nee Buman) Uglum.
The family moved to Dousman and in 1958 Kathleen graduated from Oconomowoc High School.
She had been employed from 1963 until 1967 at the Masonic Home and from 1968 until 1969 at Amron. In 1969, Kathleen was united in marriage to Karl Gier. They were married for 10 years. From 1975 until 1976, Kathleen was a crossing guard, and from 1973 until 1978, she had been employed as a housekeeper at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she had been active with the Christian Mothers and was currently a member of St. William Catholic Church. She loved being a mother and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She will be sadly missed by her children Jennifer (Tony) Waschow of Waukesha, Pauline Marie (Randy) Gier-Sullinger of Columbia, Mo.; grandchildren Corinne, Sarah and Kendall Waschow, Timothy Andrew “Craig” and Elaina and Rebecca Sullinger; brothers Arnie Uglum Jr. and Kenneth Uglum; sister Carolyn (Jeff) Reeds; and former husband, Karl Gier. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Bertha Uglum, and by three brothers, Karl, Frank and Richard Uglum.
The visitation for Kathleen will take place on Tuesday, January 5, from 5:00 p.m. until the 6:00 p.m. memorial service at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha, WI 53188. Deacon Scott Campbell will be officiating.
