John S. Fiddler

John S. Fiddler, 84, of Palmyra, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc.

John was born in Chicago on Oct. 23, 1931, the son of the late John and Esther (Essig) Fiddler. John was a violinist and loved sacred and classical music. His love of children and his faith made him a wonderful AWANA club director, Children’s Church Director, Sunday School teacher, deacon, choir member and sports coach. He loved sports, collected butterflies and rocks, and friends wherever he went. He was a charter member of the Medinah Baptist Church in Illinois. John worked as a dental technician for many years making dental prosthetics and eventually purchased the business.

He was the beloved father of Michael (Ann) Fiddler of Santa Fe, N.M., grandfather of Kristen (Jason) Mosley and Kevin Fiddler; great-grandfather of Donald “Trae,” Grace, Hailey and Kiersten; and brother of Bruce (Carol) Fiddler of Tennesee and Kathleen (Ed) Walters of Palmyra. John was loved and will be remembered by other relatives and many friends.

John was preceded in death by his 1st wife Bonnie, and his 2nd wife, Nancy.

A funeral service for John will be on Sunday, January 10, at 3:00PM with visitation from 2:00PM until the time of service at Medinah Baptist Church, 900 Foster Ave., Medinah, Ill. Burial will be on Monday, January 11, at 11:00AM at Acacia Park Cemetery, 7800 W. Irving Park Road, Norridge, IL (please meet at the cemetery).
