Pearl L. Hanneman (nee Backhaus), age 91, of Oconomowoc, was called home to heaven on Jan. 6, 2016.

She was born June 3, 1924 in Sullivan. She loved cooking and baking, gardening, socializing and attending her church and Bible study.

She is survived by children Shirley Franke, Mark (Kristen) Franke, Carol (Ricardo) Hanneman-Garuz, and Mary (Dean) Hanneman; grandchildren Chris (April) Franke, Jon Franke, Alexis and Andrés Garuz and Brooke Zeh; great-grandchildren Hannah, Jude, Eden, Norah and Luke Franke; brother-in-law, Kenneth Gaugert; many nieces, nephews and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; parents Godfrey and Edith Backhaus, and sisters Margaret, Gertrude, Marvel and Wilma.

A memorial service was held on Jan. 6, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sullivan. Memorial contributions appreciated in support of the Rev. Jacob Gaugert, Pearl’s great-nephew who is a missionary in Togo, Africa (c/o St. John’s Lutheran Church), or to St. John’s Lutheran Church or the Oconomowoc Food Pantry.
