John G. Wollenzien

John George Wollenzien passed away on January 12, 2016, at his Waukesha residence. He was born on May 29, 1926, in Waukesha, the son of William Harley Wollenzien and Mary Cecelia (nee Kripata) Wollenzien.
John was a U.S. Army veteran, where he served post-WWII in the Pacific. He returned home after service and married Betty Pundsack. John was a longtime driver for Waukesha Lime & Stone Co., where he began June 1, 1969, and worked there until his retirement.
John was the beloved husband of the late Betty Wollenzien, who passed away in April of 2011.
He is survived by son Steve (Courtney) Wollenzien of Waukesha; grandsons Jayme (Alaina), Daniel and C.J. (Robbin) Wollenzien; great-grandson Noah Jon Wollenzien; brothers Don Wollenzien, William Jr. “Woody” (Kay) Wollenzien and Jim Burtis; sister Ellen Price; and sisters-in-law Joanne Ferris, Bernice Knuerr and Germaine (Melvin) Pape. He is further survived by many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ted, who died in infancy; brothers, sisters, and a host of other dear relatives and friends.
A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, January 22, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road (at highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94), Waukesha, with a memorial service to be held at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
